Google is utilizing AI to improve the search experience.
One new way Google uses AI is through its Lens feature. Google Lens has become increasingly popular, with over 10 billion monthly searches
The US-based tech giant Google unveiled new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered search and map features. After releasing its AI chatbot Bard recently, the tech giant has announced several new ways to use artificial intelligence to enhance its search features.
One new way Google uses AI is through its Lens feature. Google Lens has become increasingly popular, with over 10 billion monthly searches. With the new update, users can use Lens to search for information directly from their mobile screens.
“In the coming months, you’ll be able to use Lens to “search your screen” on Android globally. With this technology, you can search what you see in photos or videos across the websites and apps you know and love, like messaging and video apps — without having to leave the app or experience,” Google wrote in a blog post.
With multisearch, you can search with a picture and text at the same time. Multisearch is available globally on mobile, in all languages and countries where Lens is available. Now, Google is making it possible for people to use multisearch on any image they see in mobile search results.
For example, if a user is searching for “modern living room ideas” and sees a coffee table that they like but in the wrong shape, they can use multisearch to add text such as “rectangle” to find what they’re looking for.
“We recently took multisearch even further by adding the ability to search locally. You can take a picture and add “near me” to find what you need, whether you’re looking to support neighborhood businesses or just need to find something in a hurry. This is currently available in English in the U.S., and in the coming months, we’ll be expanding globally,” said Google.
“We’re creating experiences that are more natural and visual — but we’ve only scratched the surface. In the future, with the help of AI, the possibilities will be endless,” the company added.
