Recently I was looking through YouTube and I was surprised to see that they did not go full screen on the video players. I also found out that Adobe is trying to get in on the action with their own new product. So why does YouTube fail to go full screen? In this article, I will explain the situation and what is being done about it.

Let me explain. There are many people who like to upload videos onto YouTube. However, many of those same people want to do the same on a website where they can be viewed on a desktop computer as well. It just doesn’t seem to make sense to me. Why would YouTube want to have separate websites when they could instead use the desktop version to let their users view videos?

In addition, even if they were able to use the desktop version, it would not be a different language. Meaning, in order for the desktop version to do what the mobile version could do, you would have to have the same file format and video codecs on your desktop as well. This will not make sense to anyone. But it is what is being done now.

Trying to force YouTube to go fullscreen

Many companies are trying to solve this issue by trying to force YouTube to go full screen. It has always been their intention from the beginning. The problem is, they failed. Google rejected them at first, but eventually caved and allowed the feature. Why? Well, they realized that YouTube is probably the biggest traffic generation tool they have.

When the desktop version was released, they realized that it would be difficult to make money from YouTube with AdSense on it. It seems that there is one way to do it, and that is to allow AdSense youtube go for pc windows 7 on the desktop version of YouTube. The only problem is that it doesn’t work out very well. So, they have created another version of YouTube called ” Desktop YouTube” or “YouTube Desktop.” And guess what, this new version also failed to go full screen.

So, it appears that forcing YouTube to go full screen is a losing proposition. They already have too many videos on there and getting rid of even one would be a bad move. If they drop the feature, there may be a very limited amount of people that actually benefit from it. I am sure they will keep doing what they are doing and making more videos. But that won’t happen when they have millions of users and billions of views.

Instead of trying to force them into going full screen, why not just give them what they want. Allow them to have the full desktop experience with the latest features. Why not add a window so that the user can watch the video on the desktop while they are surfing the web. This would solve the usability issue and they would still be able to view the video on the computer. It would be like having a sidebar window on the browser which loads the video.

This would solve two problems at once, keeping YouTube usable on the desktop and allowing a user to view videos while they are in the midst of the browser. It makes sense right? Well, if you look at it that way then you might have an issue with your vision. So, instead of trying to force them into staying on the desktop, why not give them the option. So, instead of watching a video, they can watch it on their desktop. It’s a small thing, but it could make all the difference in the world.

Google Algorithm Update: June 2021 Core Update

A new broad core update debuted on Wednesday — it’s named the June 2021 core update, Google search contact Danny Sullivan announced, adding that we should also expect a July 2021 core update next month.

Historically, Google has released a core Google algorithm update every few months or so. It has been just about six months since the last core update, the December 2020 Core Update. Before that it was seven months since the May 2020 core update, which took place on May 4, 2020. So this one took a lot longer than previous updates to roll out but we are expecting another update in about a month from now.

Two core updates. Why is Google releasing two different big updates in the next one month? Google told us that some of the company’s planned improvements for the June 2021 update aren’t quite ready for release this month. So Google decided to go ahead with the parts that are ready today and the rest will be pushed to the July 2021 core update next month. Google will continue to notify us when the July 2021 core update is released.

“Of course, any core update can create degradation or benefits for some content. Due to the two-part nature of this release, it is possible that a very small piece of content may see changes in June that reversed in July. . . happens,” Google said.

The announcement. Here is Google’s tweet announcing it, where Google said “later today, we are releasing a broad core update, as we do several times per year. It is called the June 2021 Core Update..”

Why Google releases these updates. Google also wrote a blog post to coincide with this June 2021 core update to explain how and why it makes these changes to search. Google said it “receives billions of queries every day from countries around the world in 150 languages.” It has to improve to stay competitive and serve its user base. “Delivering great results at this type of scale and complexity requires many different systems, and we’re always looking for ways to improve these systems so we can display the most useful results possible,” Google added.

The web is growing, sites are changing, content is being published constantly. Google said “as new sites emerge and the web changes, continued updates are key to ensuring we’re supporting a wide range of publishers, creators and businesses while providing searchers with the best information available.”

With that, Google is always pushing out updates. In fact, Google said in any given week it may “implement dozens of updates that are meant to improve Search in incremental ways.” That is why the company cannot “share details about all” of the updates. But with broad core updates like these, Google said it does try to announce these updates.

Why we care. Whenever Google updates its search ranking algorithms, it means that your site can do better or worse in the search results. Knowing when Google makes these updates gives us something to point to in order to understand if it was something you changed on your website or something Google changed with its ranking algorithm.
