Microsoft, LinkedIn empower 7.3 mn learners in India, announce new skills

To date, has engaged 14 million learners in Asia via its professional networking platform LinkedIn, including 7.3 million from India, via its aSkills for Jobs’ programme.


The company said it will provide free access to 350 courses, six new ‘Career Essentials Certificates’ and 50,000 ‘ Learning Scholarships’ to millions of learners in India and globally.


“We want to continue making tech skills accessible to all, opening up employment opportunities for people to succeed and embrace innovation,” said Dr Rohini Srivathsa, National Technology Officer, India.


The new courses and certificates will be offered in seven languages — English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.


The launch builds on the Global Skills Initiative, which helped 80 million jobseekers around the world access digital skilling resources.


By 2025, Microsoft will help train and certify 10 million more people with skills for in-demand jobs globally.


The top six ‘ Learning Pathways’ in India were Critical Soft Skills, Software Developer, Data Analyst, Financial Analyst, Project Manager, and Customer Service Specialist.


The company said that the new ‘Career Essentials Certificates’ are designed to help learners bridge the gap from basic digital literacy to more advanced technical skills training and gain certifications that will be valuable to securing employment.


All courses are available on LinkedIn at opportunity.linkedin.com.


In addition, Microsoft-developed courses are also available on Microsoft Community Training (MCT) and in downloadable format for use on other Learning Management Systems (LMS) for nonprofit partners, the company said.

Board examinations may begin from Feb 15, practicals from Jan 1: CBSE





The Central Board of Secondary (CBSE) examinations will begin from February 15, as per the tentative date notified by the Board. The official datesheet has not been released yet.


released an official notice stating that practical exams for classes 10 and 12 would start from January 1, 2023.


Students can visit the website for detailed information.


Class 10 examinations of ICSE will start from February 27 and examinations for Class 12 will commence from February 13.


The issued guidelines to students as well as to its schools spread across the country, according to which the students will be required to appear in schools as per the schedule of practical.


It notifies that students who are absent in the practical will not be provided another chance. All the students will be given complete information about the practical dates and process by their schools.


During the pandemic, the board examinations of classes 10 and 12 were conducted in two different sessions.


Along with this, CBSE has issued clear instructions to the concerned schools to complete the practicals within the stipulated time limit.


CBSE said that the datesheet for board exams of both the classes will be released soon on their website.


The board advised the students to not be confused by any datesheet or information shared on social media unless it is confirmed by the board.

10, 12 exam date sheets on social media fake, says CBSE; schedule out soon





The Central Board of Secondary (CBSE) on Sunday said purported date sheets for class 10 and 12 exams doing the rounds on are fake.


The board is yet to announce the exam date sheets, and officials said it will be done soon.


“The multiple versions of datesheets doing the round are fake. The exam schedule will soon be announced and the students and parents should wait for official information,” a senior board official said.


The board had earlier announced it will conduct theory examinations for class 10 and 12 for the academic year from February 15, 2023.


“The practical examinations will begin from January 1 and schools have been directed to complete the syllabus for these till then. The practical examinations for Class 12 will only be conducted by external examiners appointed by the board, while for Class 10, these will be conducted by internal examiners, the official explained.


The board has also released the subject-wise CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 sample papers along with the marking schemes for all the subjects.

700,000 appear in TET exam; education minister denies paper leak report





Nearly seven lakh candidates on Sunday appeared in the TET examination conducted by the WBBPE to fill up around 11,000 vacancies for primary teacher posts in government-sponsored and aided schools.


The Board of Primary Board (WBBPE) conducted the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) examination after a gap of five years in 1,460 examination centres across the state amid tight security arrangements, officials said.


minister Bratya Basu on Sunday denied there has been any in the TET examination and alleged “some people” wanted to disrupt the examination process to discredit the Mamata Banerjee government by circulating fake question papers on WhatsApp.


Basu told reporters that he was satisfied the exams could be conducted smoothly despite attempts by “some people” to derail the process and give a bad name to the Mamata Banerjee government.


Asserting there was no in the exams, the minister said “the purported question having been shared on social media is fake bearing no resemblance with the real ones.”

He said a conspiracy was hatched by “a section of people” to halt the exam process in an apparent bid to discredit the initiative by Mamata Banerjee in the interest of lakhs of primary teaching job aspirants

Basu, however, refrained from naming any party or individual.


He said the WBBPE has lodged a complaint with the Cybercrime cell about circulation of fake contents on WhatsApp.


Basu said the exams were held in a peaceful manner and called for cooperation from everybody “as we have to see the deserving TET candidates get jobs. But not everyone can get job. It has to be borne in mind.”

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari told reporters at Chuchura on Saturday, while BJP was not in favour of disrupting the TET exam process, it should be held in a fair and transparent manner.


“I have got complaints from many candidates that they have received offer over phone that they will get the questions before the examination if they are ready to pay certain amount. I hope the administration will ensure no such malpractices will take place, else there will be little point in holding such exams and it will become a farce.,” he added.


Reacting to Adhikari’s charge, Basu said “if anyone has got any concrete information, he should share the same with the primary board.”

The TET is being held to fill up around 11,000 vacancies for primary teacher posts in West Bengal government-sponsored and aided schools and nearly seven lakh candidates are taking the examination.


The 2014 TET examination results are mired in controversy over alleged irregularities in the recruitment process and the CBI is holding investigations in these on orders of the Calcutta High Court.


The state Transport department and the Metro Railway have made arrangements for additional services for ensuring smooth travel of the nearly seven lakh candidates taking the TET examination.


The TET 2022 is being held five years after the 2017 examination amid heavy security with substantial police presence at 1,460 examination centres across the state, an official said.


Recruitment of primary teachers on the basis of 2014 TET examination results, which is the subject of a huge controversy in the state, is being investigated by the CBI on orders of the Calcutta High Court.


The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is also probing the alleged money trail in the matter, arrested former state primary board chairman Manik Bhattacharya, who is a Trinamool Congress MLA from Palashipara in Nadia district, two months back.
