TRAI New Rule: आपदाओं के दौरान अब नहीं देना होगा SMS चार्ज, ट्राई ने जारी किये निर्देश

TRAI News: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recently requested all telecom companies to provide free SMS service during disasters and non-disasters. Let us tell you that if this rule is allowed, then during any kind of disaster, customers will not have to pay any additional fee for sending SMS. These services will be completely free. But, if instructions are not issued as per the Disaster Management Act, the SMS sent under CAP will be charged by the telecom service provider at two paise per message.

Telecom regulator TRAI said that in the event of a disaster, SMS sent through ‘Comment Alert Protocol’ (CAP) under the Disaster Management Act will not be charged two paise. However, in the absence of instructions under the Disaster Management Act, SMS sent under CAP will be charged at two paise per message by the telecom service provider whose network was used to send them. This provision is for messages to be sent in disaster or normal situations.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has made this arrangement by issuing the 69th amendment in the Telecom Tariff Order 2022. According to this, there will be no charge for sending messages under ‘Cell Broadcast System (CBS)’. Under this system, messages can be sent to all the devices connected to the mobile tower. TRAI said, “Keeping in view the importance of sending alerts or messages as per the directions issued under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Authority has decided that no fee will be levied for SMS/Cell broadcast alerts or messages that are sent during the time of disaster, Issued before notification of disaster or after warning of disaster.
